Crow's Feet

Friday, February 27, 2009

Crow’s feet are amongst the most complained about wrinkles on a one's face. And for good reason: “Crow’s-feet are usually the earliest wrinkles to appear on a woman’s face.” Time and nature play a nasty trick on us and, as we age, fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear around our eyes, radiating outwards. These are commonly known as crow's feet or worry lines. Besides getting older, our everyday lifestyle can aggravate the problem and cause premature aging to our skin.

Sun exposure, frequent squinting, smoking, and even sleeping on your face promote the formation of crows feet. Naturally, people who spend a great deal of time outdoors are at higher risk. Applying sunscreen, quitting smoking, and wearing sunglasses and hats are the key ways to avoid crows feet. Even if you're already showing signs, it's never too late to stop them from getting worse.

Prevention aside, once you have them, you'll need to deal with them head-on to either reduce their appearance or have them professionally treated to get rid of them temporarily. There's no fountain of youth but take comfort in the fact that everyone gets them sooner or later and you'll have the edge if you confront the problem and take steps to remove them.

Getting Rid of Crow's Feet

Home Remedies

Crows feet are stubborn and not easily dealt with at home. However, if you're in the beginning stages, there are several things you can try to soften them up and reduce their appearance.

The cheapest way is over-the-counter eye creams designed to reduce puffiness and fine lines. They may claim to completely remove wrinkles but take this with a grain of salt. Still, you can see benefits of eye creams if you apply them regularly because the outer eye area is usually very dry and creams and gels add much-needed moisture. Spot-treat and keep them away from areas that are prone to puffiness.

Some suggest that eating berries can prevent premature aging. Cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries all contain antioxidants that are very beneficial to your skin. Regardless, we can all see benefits of a proper nutrition and a healthy diet.

Professional Treatment for Crow's Feet

Visit a professional for an evaluation and plan of action. There are several procedures you and your doctor can choose from. Popular ones are laser resurfacing, collagen injections, or the now-famous Botox® treatment.

Laser resurfacing removes the outer layers of skin, tightens it up and smoothes it out, also fading age spots and reducing the appearance of pores. If you have this procedure, have the doctor treat your other problem areas and possibly your entire face. Expect to have sensitive skin for several weeks and you'll be ordered to avoid sunlight.

Collagen injections add "fillers" to your wrinkles, smoothing them out and giving you a youthful appearance. You may have heard of collagen being injected into the lips to fill them out. In smaller quantities, they're affective for crows feet as well. Of course, the results are not permanent and sometimes disappear way to quickly, in a matter of weeks. It all depends on your lifestyle, skin quality and genetics. Ask questions when planning your treatment and always find out the risks before scheduling any procedure.

We all know that Botox® is a favorite with celebrities. Since it's approval by the FDA, it's a popular, non-surgical treatment for aging. Botox® injections work by causing temporary paralysis, weakening the muscles, causing them to relax, thus eliminating wrinkles. Full benefit may not be seen for a couple of weeks and will last for approximately three months. Many celebrities have about four or five treatments per year, but they'll never admit it. You don't have to either.

Fading Freckles

There may have been a time in your life when freckles were "cute", or you probably either love them or hate them. Before you go on a "search and destroy" mission, consider the idea that they can be fun, and many guys are attracted to them. Some girls envy those with freckles!

If you're not one to accept nature's cute little spots, you can reduce their appearance, or hide them with makeup. However, there are no easy ways to completely get rid of them.
Consult your dermatologist if you're willing to spend a considerable amount of time and money. There are several different techniques to fade freckles, such as freezing, acid, sanding and laser treatments. This can take several sessions and you're going to experience skin irritation -- so it will get worse before it gets better.

Home Remedies to Fade Freckles
Things you'll need (from the kitchen)

  • Lemon Juice

  • Sour Milk

  • Orange Juice

  • Redcurrant Juice

  • Parsley Juice

  • Favorite moisturizer

Step1:

One of the most time tested methods for fading freckles is the application of lemon juice. You simply need to apply a small amount to the freckles you desire to disappear. Leave on your face for 15 minutes. (You will likely feel a burning sensation, but the effort will be well worth the discomfort). When the time is up, gently rinse the juice from your face and apply your favorite moisturizer, as the lemon juice tends to dry out your face.

Step2:

Applying sour milk to your face acts as a gentle peel to lessen the contrast of freckles scattered about. Lactic acid is the active ingredient here, and it may be used in combination with the lemon juice method. Step3: Here is a method for those adventurous souls. Mix parsely juice with equal amounts of lemon juice, orange juice, and red currant juice. Apply the mixture to your face, underneath your favorite cream. This concoction will help to camoflauge freckles.

Applying Makeup
The best way to deal with unwanted freckles is also the easiest. You can cover them under foundation and a fresh application of loose powder. You can also try lightly rubbing in a little concealer that is closest to your natural skin tone.
You might be surprised that after all the fretting and remedies you tried to hide your freckles, you finally come to realize that they are endearing and downright cute. By then, they may be fading naturally because they do have a tendency to diminish with time.

Traditional Indian Eyebrow Threading

Eyebrow threading is a centuries-old technique of facial hair removal practiced in India. It is most popular in East India and Middle East cultures and rapidly growing in popularity across the United States. This procedure is now used by beauty therapists around the world to reshape eyebrows, remove the hair in the upper lip and face.

The beautician removes individual or rows of unwanted hair by using string or "thread" which is twisted and pulled along the skin surface of unwanted hair, lifting hair directly from the follicle. As the facial hair is removed, only a slight pinch is felt.

Threading vs Waxing or Tweezers

  • Threading just pulls the facial hair, unlike waxing, which pulls the skin. Over time, waxing loosen the skin and develops premature wrinkles.

  • Threading does not have the unpleasant side effects of rashes and irritation caused by the "stripping off" of the top layer of dead skin in waxing.

  • Threading lifts the complete hair from the follicle while maintaining a larger coverage area, unlike tweezing, which is more time consuming.

  • Threading gives perfect lines, creating the right form under the eyebrow instead of the arch that wax or tweezers do.

  • Threading remove the hair from the roots while tweezers cut the hair, resulting in thicker and faster growing hair. Ingrown hairs (black points) may occasionally develop.

  • Threading do not only remove facial hair, it exfoliates too

Does it hurt?

It may sound painful, however threading is a lot less painful than waxing, which often burns or peels the top layer of the skin.

The sensation felt during threading is akin to the hair being plucked using tweezers, but unlike tweezing, threading removes many hairs at once. Since the hair is pulled out from the root, the hair that does grow back is usually finer and sparser. Frequent threading makes the hair regeneration time longer as they become thinner.

Eyebrow threading is a practice of shaping the eyebrows using a thread.

Benefits of Eyebrow Threading

  • Eyebrow threading is the best method to shape your eyebrows in comparison with other methods as it gives perfect lines, creating the right form under the eyebrow instead of the arch that wax or tweezers do.

  • Eyebrow threading is less expensive compared to other methods.• Eyebrow threading is less painful than using tweezers. How often one require eyebrow threading? It varies from person to person but for eyebrows, usually every 2-3 weeks.

Hair Loss Prevention

  • Rinsing your hair with a combination of lime juice and warm water will prevent hair loss.

  • Applying hibiscus oil on scalp is indispensable for prevention of hair loss.

  • Hair loss and dryness of hair can be prevented by application of egg white before shampooing your hair.

  • Your dry hair will be made gentle by heating water and showing your hair to the steam and massaging hair and scalp with half cup of hot olive oil.

  • Your hair can be prevented from becoming gray by adding lotus petals to 2 glass of water and bring it to boil. Then after simmering and stirring the mixture a little bit you cool it and then drink it in morning and evening.

  • Hair loss is due to a widespread diet problem- iron deficiency and anemia which causes too little iron in the blood. It can be solved by a diet containing too little meat, eggs, cereals or peas and beans.

  • Vitamin C found in fresh fruits and vegetables enable the body to absorb iron.

  • Iron deficiency causes hair loss.

Armpit Whitening

What causes armpits to become dark?

The most common cause of darkening of the armpits is in the anatomy, the rubbing of the armpits against each other.

Another common cause: shaving and plucking. Every time you shave or pluck, you cause micro abrasions. When healed, these wounds cause darkening. You may not be aware of these, but you can easily confirm it by putting alcohol on your underarms after you pluck or shave. It's going to be very painful because of the abrasions. Shaving and plucking can also cause armpit hair to stand straight up and enlarge hair follicles, making your armpit take on the appearance of chicken skin.

Waxing can also cause trauma to the skin, although the burn may be slight. Some deodorants also cause an allergy and irritate your skin which results to dark armpits.

In the following lines, we will tell you how to whiten dark armpit.

How to Get Rid of Black Marks Under Armpits

  • Do not wear clothes that are too tight. They brush against the skin and cause darkening of armpits.

  • Instead of waxing or using hair removal creams, try sugaring to get rid of underarm hair.

  • At the time of bathing, scrub your underarms with lemon peel powder. Do this on a regular basis.

  • Gently rub lemon slices on your armpits.

  • Instead of deodorants, try to use alum powder on your armpits.

  • After having a shower, take some baking soda in your hands. Rub it on your armpits and rinse off with water.

  • Applying vitamin E oil on the armpits is also believed to help whiten dark armpits.

  • Use coconut oil for washing your armpits.

  • Take 1 tsp lime juice, 1 tsp cucumber juice and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix them and make a paste. Apply the paste on your armpits and rinse after 20 minutes.

  • Take tbsp curd, 1 tsp gram flour, pinch of turmeric and 1 tsp milk. Mix them together and make a paste. Apply it on your armpits and wash off after 15 minutes.

  • Apply a paste of rose water and sandalwood powder on your underarms. Wash off, with water, after 15-20 minutes.

  • Do not shave your underarms at all.

  • Avoid synthetic fibers and wear cotton clothes, as much as possible.

  • Gently rub your underarm with a pumice stone. This will help get rid of the dead skin and whiten the armpits.

  • Use anti-fungal powder on your armpits.

Healthy Skin

Our skin is a living organ that constantly regenerates itself. The outer layer, called the epidermis, is as thin as a pencil line. It consists of a protective layer of skin cells that continually shed and give way to new cells. Below the epidermis are the dermis and hypodermis, two layers that produce the oil, collagen, and elastin that give your skin support, elasticity, and shine.

As you change and grow, so does your skin. Aging and environmental elements, such as sun, wind, pollution, and heating systems, all affect your skin type.

Below you will find different skin types as well as definitions of those types that help you can use to determine your skin type. Your skin is a living organ that constantly regenerates itself. Clean Skin Is Happy Skin
One simple way to take care of your skin is to keep it clean. Keeping your hands clean is especially important because your hands can spread germs to the skin on other parts of your body.

When washing your hands, use water that's comfortably warm. Wet your hands, then lather up with a mild soap. You should lather and rub everywhere, including the palms, the wrists, between the fingers, and under the nails. Rinse well, dry thoroughly with a clean towel, and you're done!

You'll also want to use water that's warm, not too hot, when you take a shower or bath. Use a gentle soap to clean your body. Don't forget under your arms and behind your ears! Your face needs attention, especially as you enter puberty and the skin on your face gets more oily. It's a good idea to wash your face once or twice daily with warm water and a mild cleanser.

If you look in the drugstore, you'll see shelf after shelf of skin care products, but kids don't usually need anything more than a gentle soap. Talk to a parent or your doctor if you have questions about what to use on your skin.

If you have dry, flaky, or itchy skin, you might use a moisturizing lotion or cream. When choosing a moisturizer, pick one without a lot of colors and perfumes. Petroleum jelly can work for some kids. If you are worried about pimples, look for a moisturizer that is non-comedogenic (won't cause pimples). With pimples, you might think that scrubbing your face is the way to get rid of them. But actually, your skin will be less likely to break out if you clean it gently, using your fingertips, not a rough washcloth. If you have trouble with pimples, talk with your doctor about which cleansers are best to use.

Skin Care
Allergies to Skin Care ProductsSometimes when you use a new kind of soap or other skin product, your skin may get irritated or you may get an allergic reaction. If you get a rash or if your skin feels itchy, hot, dry, or like it's burning, tell an adult. Stop using the product and don't forget that it caused a reaction. You don't want to use it again or buy a product with the same active ingredient.

To test a new product, place a tiny bit of it on the inside of your wrist or arm. Watch for any redness or irritation over the next 24 hours. If your skin becomes red or irritated, don't use the product. Sometimes, your skin is fine with a new product the first time, or few times, you use it, but then your skin gets red or irritated later on. You'll want to stop using the product whenever redness or irritation occurs.

Screening Your Skin From DamageThere is one product that everyone needs: sunscreen. Even if your skin is naturally dark, you still need to use a sunscreen. Protecting your skin from the sun prevents sunburn, which hurts and is a kind of skin damage. Sunscreen also can help prevent wrinkles when you get older and can decrease the risk of skin cancer, which is caused by exposure to the sun's harmful rays.

Choose a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or 45, and apply it evenly. Try not to miss any spots, such as your neck or the middle of your back. Have a friend or your parent help you with the hard-to-reach spots. Follow the directions on the sunscreen, which often recommend reapplying it, especially after swimming or sweating. Because sunscreen cannot protect your skin completely from the sun, it's also a good idea to wear a brimmed hat and use a lip balm containing sunscreen. If you need more protection from the sun, wear long sleeves and pants. Also, avoid the sun between 10 AM and 2 PM.

Soothing Skin That's SoreEverybody gets little scrapes and cuts on their skin. When this happens to you, be sure to wash the area with warm water and a mild soap. Talk to one of your parents about whether to use an antibiotic (say: an-tie-bye-ah-tik) cream or ointment. This can kill germs at the site of the cut and prevent an infection. Covering a cut with a bandage helps keep it clean.

When you have a more serious cut, you may need to go to the doctor or the emergency department. A deep cut might need stitches to heal properly. Instead of stitching a cut together with special thread, in some cases, doctors can use a special kind of glue.
